In Loving Memory of Rosa Green

With profound sadness, we remember 61-year-old Rosa Green of Orangeburg, a beloved math teacher whose life was tragically lost following a two-vehicle crash Monday morning in Orangeburg County.

Rosa’s passing has left her family, friends, colleagues, students, and the North Middle High School community grieving a heartbreaking loss. As an educator, she spent her days helping students learn and grow, leaving behind memories that will remain with those whose lives she touched.

The crash occurred around 9:20 a.m. Monday, September 28, at the intersection of S.C. 172 and U.S. 178 in North.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Rosa was driving a 2020 Kia Soul westbound on U.S. 178. At the same time, a 2005 Toyota Sequoia was traveling eastbound on U.S. 178 and attempted to turn left onto S.C. 172. The Toyota then collided with the Kia.

Rosa was seriously injured in the crash and transported to MUSC Health Orangeburg for medical treatment. Despite efforts to save her, she later died from the injuries she sustained in the collision, according to Orangeburg County Coroner Sean Fogle.

The driver of the Toyota was not injured.

Orangeburg County School District officials confirmed that Rosa was a math teacher at North Middle High School. Her death has brought grief to the school community, including students and fellow educators who knew her.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
