In Loving Memory of Karlos Darden, 21

With heavy hearts, we remember 21-year-old Karlos Darden of Jacksonville, North Carolina, whose life was tragically lost in a motorcycle crash Monday afternoon.

The crash happened shortly after 4 p.m. on Highway 17 South at the 53 Bypass South. Jacksonville police said Karlos was attempting to merge across several lanes of traffic when he lost control of his motorcycle and struck a guardrail on the right side of the roadway.

The motorcycle rolled several times, throwing Karlos from the bike before coming to rest at the end of the ramp. Police said he was pronounced dead at the scene and that speeding contributed to the crash.
