In Loving Memory of Zachary Herron
Our hearts are heavy as we remember Zachary Herron, 26, who tragically lost his life Wednesday morning following a devastating two-vehicle crash on US 301 at Way Road in Santee, South Carolina.
The collision occurred at approximately 5:50 a.m. when Zachary was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro northbound. At the same time, a 2024 Volvo tractor-trailer was attempting to turn south onto US 301 Fairway Road. The two vehicles collided at the intersection, leaving Zachary as the only person injured in the crash.
Despite the circumstances, Zachary’s life could not be saved.
According to Orangeburg County Coroner Sean Fogle, poor weather conditions and dense fog played a role in the tragedy. Visibility was reportedly very low in the area that morning, turning what should have been an ordinary journey into a heartbreaking final chapter for a young man whose life still held so many possibilities.
At just 26 years old, Zachary’s story was far from finished. There should have been more mornings ahead, more roads to travel, more conversations to share, more memories to create, and countless moments waiting for him in the future. Tragically, those possibilities were taken away far too soon.
His passing leaves behind a silence that cannot easily be described. A life that mattered, a presence that touched this world, and a future that once stretched before him have now become cherished memories for those who knew him.
As the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office continue their investigation into the crash, Zachary’s name remains at the center of this heartbreaking loss—not simply as a victim of a roadway tragedy, but as a 26-year-old man whose life deserved many more chapters.
May Zachary Herron be remembered with dignity, compassion, and love. May his family, friends, and everyone who knew him find strength in the memories he left behind. And may his memory continue to live on long after that tragic morning has passed.
Rest peacefully, Zachary Herron.
Your journey ended far too soon, but your memory will never be forgotten.
