IN LOVING MEMORY OF VERONICA TUSSEY-TAYLOR

With heavy hearts, we remember Veronica Tussey-Taylor, 59, a Brazos County resident whose life was tragically lost following a fatal shooting at a residence in the 6400 block of Trace Bend in northern Brazos County, Texas, on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

Just after 9 p.m., deputies responding to a welfare concern discovered Veronica deceased after she suffered a gunshot wound.

During the investigation, authorities determined her vehicle was missing and developed a suspect. The vehicle was later tracked to northern Harris County using automated license plate readers, including Flock cameras, and was located by a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter.

Before deputies entered the property, the suspect, John Goodwin, 54, of College Station, died by suicide using a firearm. He was later confirmed deceased. Authorities said Veronica and Goodwin were known to each other.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Our deepest condolences go out to Veronica’s family, friends, and loved ones. May they find comfort in the memories, love, and precious moments they shared with her.

May Veronica Tussey-Taylor rest peacefully and remain forever remembered. 🕊️🤍
